TOTAH Booth B14
David Austen, Mara De Luca, Aleksandar Duravcevic, Melissa McGill
TOTAH presents Tangential Territories, composed of four represented artists whose work considers our relationship to environmental and cosmological phenomena through material sensitivities. Melissa McGill’s map works are seen as if from the stars to see the earth and terrain, and asserts our roles as stewards of it. Aleksandar Duravcevic captures rainbows as found objects through stainless steel wall works that muse on permanence and ephemerality. David Austen’s stars (often titled ‘Ocean’) draw on the patterns of the natural world found in medieval symbology, and Mara De Luca balances the sensual with the conceptual in sky gradients, which through splits, cuts, and canvas wraps, affirm and dispel illusory experiences. Working across diverse media that includes flax canvas, steel, acrylic, and organic indigo, each artist touches on the ineffable while remaining grounded in tactile response.
